Writer's Island #8 - Haunted

The prompt for Writer's Island this week is "Haunted", just in time for Halloween. My entry is not so much Halloween themed, still, here it is:

Faded Memory

No longer able to recall
Your face
without some effort
your smile
without some struggle
your voice
without some thought

It takes focus now
To see
That twinkle
In your eyes
that mischief
in your grin
that vigor
in your stance

I must stop and concentrate
To recollect
The way you’d hold
My hand
The way you’d say
My name
They way you’d kiss
My lips

But somewhere in the recesses
of my mind
the power of your love remains
It haunts me
At the most inopportune of moments

Strange, but it seem we wrote about the same thing but mine is slightly different.

I like this - very touching.

I felt very lost in a world I could barely remember...
That is how your poem hit me as though the loss had been so profound, but only when the person wanted to remember could they not. I liked the errie strains of violins I imagine would play in the back ground.

I know exactly what you mean. You've captured what is is to be haunted by the power of love in words of equal power.

Forgetting is hardly ever complete - remembering is hardly ever complete. Waxing, waning...you've done a great job of looking at this phenomenon.

It may not be a Halloween-type haunting, but it is haunting nonetheless. Very nicely done - I liked the way the words flowed and the image of a person haunting your memories is all too familiar.
