Curtain Call - Three Word Wednesday #1
Still going strong(ish) with NaPoWriMo, picked up yet another meme, to help me along with inspiration. My first 3WW for the words: Funny, Remember, Theatre.
Stage Fright
Fear enfolds me
Butterflies
Funny feelings
In the pit of my stomach
Just a few moments more
Speak the words
Must remember
Where to stand
Don't look out
At the audience
Look above them,
OH God
The theatre is packed
They're all looking at me
What's my line?
Deep breath
"Hark, who goes there"
Step back,
The curtain lowers
It's over.

very nicely done.. glad to see you joining us....
It evokes the feeling of stage fright which I feel even off the stage so well
Welcome to 3WW!
I remember having to go on stage when I was in high school and feeling the same way. You describe it perfectly!
Bernardo actually starts off with "Who's there?", not "Hark..." :-)
Seriously, welcome to 3WW. I liked this--the rhythm brings the nerves to the forefront. You can feel the exhalation of relief in the last line. I think it's the comma and the period that really complete it. (I might suggest removing the first comma and maybe even the question mark.)
Happy Wednesday, and some virtual sideline cheers to you for NaPoWriMo. (You can find my efforts at http://cornerkick.blogspot.com.)
I went on stage many times in my youth, as a guitarist in a rock band, and it was always terrifying - for the first few minutes.
Good work! I feel the fear! And the relief!
What an excellent way to work through the myriad of feelings that you will be dealing with right now. If I had an ounce extra of time I would consider doing this, but I will wait for NaNoWriMo instead. Lovely poetry, very emotional.
and now I have another blog to add to my daily reads :)
nice entry for your first 3WW. you express the feeling well.
I love the idea of stage fright over one line :)
Welcome to 3WW!
oh geez, thaz exactly what itz like!!!... bravo!!!
Welcome to 3WW : )
The topic of stage fright is so relateable! Not just for acting but speeches and doing things beyond the comfort zone.
